New nappa leather

Car manufacturers and suppliers have come a long way in their desire to make the interior of a car not only aesthetic but also durable.

Especially leather as a natural product is processed in such a way that the ageing process like colour fading or material shrinkage has become almost non-existent. New surface coatings became more resistant to scratches and stains: an easy-care product, adapted to our times.

But easy-care does not mean maintenance-free!

Even modern leather surfaces get dirty and here are our recommendations against it:

- Clean nappa leather surfaces with Leather Cleaner / Leather Cleaner Forte and depending on the degree of soiling with a leather cleaning brush.
- For perforated leather (for example ventilated seats) use a cleaning sponge instead of the cleaning brush.
- Remove the dirt foam with our soft Detail cloth made of cotton or yellow Micro-Wash microfibre cloth.
- Repeat the procedure until no more dirt can be removed.
- Work in smaller sections so that the liquid does not dry up.

You will be surprised how much surface dirt is being removed. The leather will regain its original, slightly matt appearance.

New Nappa leather sealing with Leather Glaze protects smooth leather from jeans dye transfer and abrasion. Simply apply with a sponge applicator in a circular motion from seam to seam. The colourless sealant dries in a few minutes and does not shine.

Please do not use our products on buffalo or suede leather.

Please do not treat aniline leather (leather that has open pores) with Leather Cleaner Forte and / or brush.

Aniline or Nappa leather?

Apply a drop of water to a concealed area and spread it lightly with your finger. If the water is absorbed, it is an aniline leather.

Used Nappa leather

Here we present you with care tips, especially for nappa leathers. These can be natural leather fittings in new cars as well as old leather material in classic cars.

Clean nappa leather surfaces with Leather Cleaner / Leather Cleaner Forte and the leather cleaning brush, depending on how dirty they are. For perforated leather use the cleaning sponge.

Remove the resulting foam and dissolved dirt with our detail cotton cloth or a yellow Micro-Wash microfibre cloth.

Work in smaller sections so that the liquid does not dry up.

After the surface is completely dry, apply Leather Milk with the textile applicator. Use a small amount of material and let it soak in. If the leather still feels dry, repeat the process.

Please do not use our products on buffalo or suede leather. Please do not treat aniline leather with Leather Cleaner Forte and / or brush.

Solving further leather problems

Sealing - Repairing - Softening

Leather Glaze leather sealer

New leather does not yet require leather milk, it is still sufficiently protected by the tanning process. New kappa leather should, however, be protected from the beginning against abrasion and colour transfer from jeans and other garments with the leather sealant Leather Glaze. Leather Glaze is colourless, lustreless and can be applied with a fine-pored sponge and circular movements from seam to seam.

Leather Healer Leather Tint

Seat bolsters, steering wheels, gear knobs and armrests made of nappa leather tend to show signs of wear. In most cases this is harmless wear and tear such as worn paint or scratches. They can be repaired with the right shade of leather tint. The leather tint for kappa leather is applied with a fine-pored sponge and circular movement from seam to seam. It dries in a few minutes and does not stain (no cream).

Leather Gloss Corrector matt or shiny

Leather surfaces in the interior that are subject to greater stress, such as the steering wheel, armrests or gear knob, begin to shine over time. Gloss Corrector matt is applied with a fine-pored sponge and circular movement from seam to seam, giving them a matte appearance again. Multiple applications increase the effect.

Youngtimers and vintage cars often have a shinier leather finish. If e.g. a piece of leather has to be replaced, the gloss level is often too matt. Gloss Corrector glossy is applied with a fine-pored sponge and circular movement from seam to seam, giving a shiny appearance again. Multiple applications increase the effect.

Leather Softener

Lack of care and above all heat are the main causes of hardened leather. If old nappa leather has already hardened, with a little patience and our Leather Softener you can achieve small wonders. The softener returns oils and minerals to the leather that have been removed by sunlight and air.

Apply Leather Softener with a sponge applicator and let the liquid soak in. Sometimes the treatment has to be repeated several times to allow the liquid to gradually soak into the lower layers of the leather.

Vegan leather

Vegan leather perfectly meets our spirit of time and enjoys increasing popularity. Technical development makes it possible to produce an artificial material that is in no way inferior to the natural model. Appearance and feel are perfectly imitated. But also artificial material needs to be cared for to maintain its original beauty.

Here are our recommendations:

- Cleaning with Leather Cleaner / Leather Cleaner Forte and cleaning sponge or brush

- Surface protection of light coloured vegan leather against dye transfer of jeans and other garments with Leather Glaze leather sealant.

Alcantara

Similar to vegan leather, Alcantara is an artificial material that imitates suede, but is easier to clean and more durable. Do not use aggressive cleaners and brushes for cleaning and never rub.

Alcanta Cleaner

Remove loose dirt from Alcantara surfaces with a vacuum cleaner and spray Alcanta Cleaner onto a sponge applicator or directly onto the surface. Dab with light pressure. Dab dry with a yellow Micro-Wash
microfibre cloth. Never rub! Never clean with heat.

Pilling of old Alcantara

The nodules that appear in the areas of wear over time are typical of Alcantara and are known as "pilling". As long as the pilling is not too strong, they can be removed with our leather sanding pad. The difference before and after normally is stunning!

Lotos Protectant textile sealant

Alcantara can be well protected against new soiling with a textile sealant. Clean the surface with Alcanta Cleaner, allow to dry and finally seal with Lotos Protectant.
